Here's a sound piece of advice to all travellers: make sure you get to the airport in plenty of time! We recommend the following check-in times for flights:
two hours prior to departure if you are flying to a European destination
three hours prior to departure if you are flying to a destination outside Europe
The check-in desks are situated in Departure Halls 1, 2 and 3 and are numbered.
Departure Hall 1: desk rows 1 up to and including 8
Departure Hall 2: self-service check-in and baggage drop-off points row 9 up to and including 12, and check-in balies 13 up to and including 16
Departure Hall 3: desk rows 17 up to and including 32
Self-service check-in
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is in the process of automating and speeding up the passenger process to offer you an even better level of service. At Amsterdam Airport Schiphol you can make use of Self-service check-in facilities. This means that you can check yourself in with the aid of machines (kiosks). Self-service check-in is being introduced in Departures 1, 2 and 3. The kiosks are situated close to the check-in desks of the airlines in question.
How does it work?
- You put your passport, credit card or frequent flyer card in the reader of the kiosk.
- You enter the required information.
- You are offered the possibility to change the reserved seats.
- You round off the check-in process and receive your boarding pass.
- You go to the Drop-off Point (the existing check-in desks) to check in your (hold) baggage.
Self-service check-in: fast and comfortable
Self-service check-in is fast, comfortable and convenient. The departure process is speeded up as there are fewer waiting moments and you have control over the steps to be completed.
