Airport charges

When you travel from Schiphol, you will be asked to pay airport charges. For Schiphol Airport these are made up of a Passenger Service Charge and a Security Service Charge.

You pay the Passenger Service Charge, among other things, for the construction, the maintenance and the cleaning of all facilities inside the terminal building. To cover the costs of security and screening of hand and hold baggage you pay the Security Service Charge.

Airport charges via the ticket
As of 1 November 2007, the Passenger Service Charge for departing local passengers amounts EUR 11.87 and the Security Service Charge EUR 10.84. In total this comes to EUR 22,71. Schiphol charges this amount to the airlines. You generally end up paying the charges via your ticket. The Passenger Service Charge and Security Service Charge applicable to transfer passengers amount less. Babies (under the age of 2) are exempt from these charges. Your ticket will generally also show the airport charges that are applied by the airport you return from to Schiphol.

Additional charges
Tour operators or airlines may also impose (additional) charges, such as an insulation charge / noise charge to fund an insulation project involving homes around Schiphol or a fuel surcharge to cover a sharp increase in fuel prices.
