As of 1 January 2008, all public areas of the Terminal will become smoke free. Smoking will no longer be permitted in any of the bar and restaurant facilities. The other public areas of the Terminal were already designated as a non-smoking area.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is putting this new measure in place in anticipation of the Tobacco Act, which is expected to become effective throughout the Netherlands as from 1 July. Under the Tobacco Act, catering facilities and public areas are designated as non-smoking zones.
The terminal complex will no longer provide smoking facilities for passengers and visitors. You will be able to smoke, on the Jan Dellaertplein and on the sidewalk at the departures level. Please be aware that once you have passed through passport control, you will not be able to smoke anywhere in the departure lounge.
