Dutch Princess opens first Airport Library in the world at Schiphol

The Airport Library is the world’s first library opened at an airport. And Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the first airport where passengers can read books in 29 different languages, listen to music, watch films and download these free of charge. It’s a unique initiative by Amsterdam Aiport Schiphol and the Dutch Public Libraries.

Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands officially opened the Airport Library. The Airport Library’s content derives from the collection of the Dutch Public Libraries and has a unique offering of Dutch literature. The Airport Library can be found after passport control on Holland Boulevard, the connecting passageway between Piers E and F, which has been modernised and extended.

Schiphol aims to offer a space where millions of passengers can enjoy a pleasant stay, become re-energised and soak up Dutch art, culture and literature on Holland Boulevard. Even the millions of transit passengers not stopping over in the Netherlands will be able to get a taste of Dutch art, culture and literature.

Holland Boulevard is open daily one and a half hours before the first flight departs and closes 30 minutes after the last flight departs.
