Aviapartner Cargo organised a conference for its top 15 Freight Forwarders on 28 October and for its Carriers on 4 November to discuss developments in the air cargo industry. Guest speakers from Dutch Customs (Jos Ensing) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Saskia van Pelt) participated and shared their views on past, current and future developments.
Mr Ensing stressed the value of detailed pre-arrival information as a prerequisite for intelligent customs analyses to minimise inspection delays in the supply chain, and introduced discussions on the green-red lane philosophy of the Schiphol SmartGate Cargo concept. In due course this information will be required under European Customs regulations. Early implementation of EU Customs requirements will result in a logistic advantage for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Mr Ensing called upon all supply chain parties to support this initiative and provide information to the Cargonaut Informatie Makelaar portal.
On behalf of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Ms Van Pelt provided airport cargo statistics (volumes and flights) and shared the airport’s efforts to increase the number of cargo flights at Schiphol through the Upgraded Freighter Reward Programme and the Freighter Retention Reward Programme. New initiatives will focus on Schiphol as Europe’s premier E-Freight Hub.
Mr Kervezee presented developments in cargo volumes at Aviapartner Cargo and informed the audience about new initiatives and investments made to reduce waiting times, increase security and provide fast-lane access to the Aviapartner Cargo premises.
On an operational note, ACN pass holders will be able to use the fast-lane entrance at Aviapartner Cargo from mid November 2009. The fast-lane entrance can be reached by trucks only along the route highlighted on the map below.
The new fast-lane entrance will ensure smooth access without unnecessary delays for authorised and/or ACN pass holders.
