Schiphol Cargo attends Air Cargo India 2010
From 2-4 February, Schiphol Cargo attended Air Cargo India 2010 and spoke to many Indian airlines about cargo developments at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. India is a promising air cargo market, expected to grow at 8.5% per cent per year.
Airlines, airports, GSSAs, the United Nations and freight forwarders, as well as industry groups, such as OAG and Boeing, all gathered in the new Mumbai Exhibition Centre. During the conference, speakers from the airfreight industry gave presentations and there were panel discussions on trends in the development of global airfreight and, especially, the potential for the Indian cargo market. Schiphol met with all Indian airlines to discuss their network strategy and potential cargo expansion into Europe. All parties expressed substantial interest in participating in the Air Cargo Forum 2010, to be held in Amsterdam in November and hosted by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The current Indian airfreight market is 1.2 million tonnes cargo. India’s freight industry is expected to grow at 10 per cent per annum by 2014 and the airfreight sector is set to expand by 8.5 per cent year within the next 5 years.
