‘SmartGate The Game’ launched by Air Cargo Netherlands


Air Cargo Netherlands has launched ‘SmartGate The Game’. The game is designed to provide the staff of forwarders, ground handlers and airlines a better understanding of the SmartGate concept. SmartGate enables exports to pass through the Customs and Security processes in a faster, more efficient and reliable manner.

SmartGate The Game is a serious game, which was created by the Amsterdam-based company IJsfontein thanks to a subsidy from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and a number of co-sponsors, including Schiphol Group, the Province of North Holland, the City of Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce and the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.

SmartGate aims to reduce the risk of delay and to achieve time gains when goods are delivered for shipment because the authorities are able to carry out ‘smarter’ and less physical checks. The game is accessible to all and was launched online on 11 January on www.smartgatethegame.nl. Moreover ACN members are welcome to take part in a competition offering the chance to win great prizes. The competition final will be held in April 2011 in the airport auditorium.
