Alitalia’s Press Conference
On Thursday 17th March, Schiphol hosted the launch of Alitalia's new double daily service from Florence to Amsterdam with a press conference in the VIP centre.
The event was timed to coincide with the celebrations of the 150 years anniversary of Italy's unification and was attended by dignitaries from the Italian community and was addressed by the Italian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr Franco Giordano. Alitalia Country Manager for the Netherlands, Mr Marco Quagliarella, highlighted the features of the new double daily Florence flight stating "With a double daily offering we really have a great product for this market. It works for point to point travellers, business people, tourists and fits perfectly into the KLM onward connecting network". Schiphol's Chief Commercial Officer, Maarten de Groof, welcomed Alitalia's announcement saying "Now we have a strong link between these two great capitals of European culture. Alitalia will create a bridge from the home of Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli to the home of Rembrandt and van Gogh". The new service will begin on March 27 and will be operated twice daily with a 126 seat Airbus A319 aircraft - more details see Alitalia.com
