New at Aviation Marketing

It’s green and new at Aviation Marketing…? A true Kiwi in our Aviation Marketing Team!

Starting this month, Ben James has joined the Aviation Marketing team for two years on an exchange with Jasper Spruit. Ben has come to AMS from Brisbane Airport in Australia, in which Schiphol has a 20% ownership. He has worked in an airline marketing role at Brisbane for five years, but at Schiphol will be responsible for a new territory and different airlines.

"In Australia I worked with the airlines of the South Pacific and Asia, everywhere from Honiara in the Solomon Islands through to Hanoi in Vietnam and beyond. Jasper will now be looking after these and I will keep developing his portfolio of European carriers".

"Jasper and I briefed each other in a handover at the recent Route Development conference in Vancouver. It’s amazing how airline marketing work is fundamentally the same on either side of the world, just with different markets and passenger behaviour", Ben commented.

While several AMS employees have spent time at Brisbane since Schiphol bought a share in 1996, Ben is the first Australian to undertake a long term posting in the Netherlands. Ben is currently also working hard to learn Dutch.

"As we are here for two years I would very much like to be able to communicate better than just 'Goedemiddag, twee biertjes alstublieft', which is as far as most Aussies get here".

Ben can be found in the same office as Jasper occupied, working with Marcel Lekkerkerk till September 2012.
