Schiphol employment figures show clear recovery
The period from October 2009 through October 2010 shows employment figures on a rebound trend at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Total jobs fell by just 0.3% last year, representing a significant improvement over the previous year's -7.7%. Over the entire period, the airport employed a total of 59,808 people. Moreover, employment figures at Schiphol have been recovering faster than the national average, which showed a 2010 decline of 0.6%. These figures, which form part of the annual Amsterdam Airport Schiphol employment report, were compiled by Regioplan Policy Research on behalf of Schiphol Group.
Growth in employment figures is particularly evident at government institutions, with an 8.4% (+337 employees) increase relative to the previous year. The rise is largely attributable to an increase in jobs at the Dutch Military Police (Koninklijke Marechaussee) and the Dutch Tax Authorities. Leading the trend in terms of overall jobs in 2010 were Altran BV (+120), the Dutch Military Police (Koninklijke Marechaussee) (+107), Aviapartner Cargo B.V. (+100), Joever BV (+96) and Gate Gourmet Amsterdam BV (+94).
