Schiphol wins Airport Marketing Award for Western Europe

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was awarded the Routes Airport Marketing Award in the category Western Europe at the Routes Europe 2011 conference in Cagliari (Sardinia). Schiphol received the award at the Routes Airport Marketing Award ceremony last week.

Airlines voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as the airport that staged the most impressive marketing efforts of the past year. The jury report read that Schiphol showed "growth as well as results, based on developments in their route activities ".

The Routes Airport Marketing Awards acknowledge and reward marketing activities conducted by airports that are aimed at airlines. Airports are more attractive to passengers if they are able to offer a large and varied number of destinations, a goal which they are set to achieve by deploying a range of marketing instruments to convince airlines to select them as one of their destinations.

The Routes Europe Forum is an annual conference that gives airline network planners and airport marketing agents in Europe and elsewhere a chance to meet. Conference discussions place particular emphasis on market potential and support for both new and existing routes. Routes Europe 2011 was attended by 700 aviation professionals.

In addition to the regional Routes conferences, there is also an annual conference for aviation professionals from all across the globe: the World Route Development Forum. This year's World Route Development Forum will be held in Berlin from 2 - 4 October.
