Partnerships
In addition to our own activities, we consider the mutual exchange of knowledge and a close collaboration with other stakeholders within the industry to be of paramount importance in our endeavour to attain true pioneering innovations.
Innovative Main Port Partnership
Schiphol Group has been collaborating with KLM, TU Delft, TNO and the National Space and Aviation Laboratory in the Innovative Main Port Partnership (Samenwerking Innovatieve Mainport, SIM) project. The intention is the improve accessibility and airport processes through innovative developments.
Optimum use of airspace
A Knowledge and Development Centre was set up together with KLM and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands. The mutual goal of this project is to promote a sustainable and optimum use of airspace.
Climate
Schiphol Group participates in the national Knowledge for Climate (Kennis voor Klimaat) programme, a platform for investigating climate change. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol lies four metres under the NAP, the Normal Amsterdam Level. Its location below water level means that the airport is seriously affected by changes in weather and climate.
Local Community Contact Centre Schiphol (BAS)
BAS is a joint initiative of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands and Schiphol Group. Questions and complaints about air traffic, the use of runways, flight paths, safety or the Schiphol policy are all addressed by well-informed staff members.
Main Port Innovation Fund
KLM, Schiphol, Rabobank and TU Delft established the Mainport Innovation Fund (“MIF”) at the end of 2009. In setting up this investment fund, these parties have joined forces to help young innovative Dutch entrepreneurs involved in science and technology get started and to stimulate sustainable innovations in the aviation sector. The fund is supported by the government via the Technopartner scheme, under which the government doubles the investment made by the other parties.
theGROUNDS
theGROUNDS is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol’s knowledge centre and testing ground where companies and knowledge institutions collaborate to develop innovative applications for a more sustainable airport. The first partners to participate are TU Delft, Wageningen University and Research Centre, Imtech and TNO. theGROUNDS has a working location at Schiphol Centre: theGROUNDS INCUBATOR.
