Sustainable growth

A business must grow in order to survive. We believe that growth must be achieved in a sustainable manner. This means taking responsibility, making decisions and being transparent when it comes to future developments and the growth of the airport.

Alders Platform
The participants in the Alders Platform have issued a recommendation with regard to the growth of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol up until 2020. The key message of this comprehensive and indivisible recommendation is that Schiphol is permitted to expand to 580,000 air transport movements in 2020. Of these, 70,000 non-mainport related flights will take place at regional airports. The agreements have been laid down in three covenants.

Employment
As a main port, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is an important source of jobs for the Netherlands in general and the Randstad area in particular. More than 65,000 people are employed by the companies established at the airport.

Competitive position
It is of essential importance to the national and regional economy to have a strong European and intercontinental network. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol contributes towards creating a favourable climate for business establishment. After Frankfurt airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol offers the largest number of destinations out of all the airports in Europe. This excellent international accessibility ensures that international company headquarters, major corporations and distribution centres are keen to establish themselves in the immediate vicinity of Schiphol.

The collaboration between Schiphol Group and Aéroports de Paris has increased the competitive strength of both airports, as well as placing the Schiphol area even more firmly on the map as an economically powerful and attractive region for business establishment.

Innovation
We are continually innovating. On a regular basis we cooperate with other parties like TNO, KLM and Air traffic control The Netherlands. Knowledge sharing is always a part of our partnerships.
