Security checks upon departure

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol conducts security checks upon departure and arrival. Whether or not you are subjected to a check will depend on your country of origin or destination.

Passport control upon departure
Check in at your airline’s check-in desk. You can also use the self-service check-in. Show your boarding card and passport at Dutch Border Police (Koninklijke Marechaussee) central security control. If you are travelling to a Schengen country, you will only have to show your ticket.

Security check upon departure
If you are flying to a Schengen country, the ticket control will be followed by a check of your person and hand baggage. If you are flying to a non-Schengen country, this check will be conducted at the gate. Please watch the instructional video.
