The issuing process

Passes are issued by the Badge Center, which is situated in Triport 2. The issuing process will change as a result of the introduction of the new pass. The entire process, from completing the application form to printing the new pass takes about 12 minutes.

What you should take with you
If you are applying for a new pass, you should report to the reception desk and hand over your application form. For anyone with the Dutch nationality: valid passport or National ID-card. For anyone with a foreing nationality: passport and a valid residence permit. If you have already been issued with a pass, your old pass, and if you have never been issued with a pass before, a 'Statement of No Objection'. A 'Statement of No Objection' is a statement by the Koninklijke Marechaussee which states on behalf of the AIVD that you can given permission to enter the clean areas of Schiphol.

The desk concept
The staff at the reception desk will check your documents and refer you to a desk. If you do not have the Dutch nationality, this will be the Koninklijke-Marechaussee desk. If you have to complete the apron safety test for the orbital roads certificate or the apron certificate, you will have to go to the test area. If all your papers are in order, you will be referred to the pass issue desk.

Verification by the Koninklijke Marechaussee
In all cases you will, however, also have to go and see the Marechaussee in order for them to check your ID. Furthermore, the screening will be repeated once every five years. When you apply for a pass for a clean area for the first time, when you take up employment with a different employer or when you renew your application you should always apply for a 'Statement of No Objection'. You should obtain the application forms for the 'Statement of no Objection' from the Koninklijke Marechaussee yourself.

The issue of the pass
Your iris will only be scanned if you have applied for a pass that grants you access to a clean area. In that case the staff at the desk will make an iris scan as well as an ordinary passport photograph.
The staff at the desk will ask you to remove your glasses or lenses.
You will also be weighed. You will not feel or notice a thing though.

Your details will be entered into the access control system after which your pass can be printed. While it is being printed you will be given an explanation of the new pass and can practice with the iris camera.

Personal Data Protection Act
All of your details will be treated confidentially, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act. Your iris scan and your weight will only be stored on your pass, i.e. not in a database or a computer system.
